A WRECCLESHAM woman says she will never shop at Tesco again after the way the store treated her after she complained of finding two shards of hard plastic in a tub of coleslaw.

Nicky Nicholls (35) of The Street, ordered the healthy eating range coleslaw on Tesco's internet shopping website.

After it was delivered and soon after taking a bite she noticed something was wrong.

"I could feel something not quite right and discovered two shards of plastic. One was two centimetres in length and the other one centimetre."

Mrs Nicholls suffered no ill-effects but is annoyed by the way she has been treated by Tesco customer services.

"I'm really annoyed that they didn't ask how I was and am really surprised by their lack of concern.

"They've been less than helpful. They gave me some spiel about taking the product to my local store and filling in a form, but I told them the whole point of me buying on-line was that I needn't go to a store for my groceries. I don't have a Tesco near me or near where I work."

A Tesco spokesman, who apologised to Mrs Nicholls, told The Herald this week that the customer service manager at their Aldershot store was happy to meet Mrs Nicholls at home.

But she says that offer is effectively redundant.

"So much time has elapsed. It's nearly two weeks ago now. Their sense of urgency is pathetic.

"When their press officer rang me he referred to yoghurt, not coleslaw, and when he apologised it wasn't very forthcoming or sincere.

"I just feel like I'm one of thousands of customers. I've told them I will be shopping elsewhere from now on and I'm going to tell everyone I know."
