ALTON town councillors are at one with their Chawton neighbours in registering strong opposition to a linked proposal for the development of two sites, either side of the A31.

The double-barrelled approach, put forward by Aldershot-based developers Elstream Management Limited, would provide 20 flats, with parking on the former tyre and exhaust centre site at Butts Road, Alton, and 44 new homes on a 6.25 acre field between Wolf's Lane, Chawton, and the A31 Alton by-pass.
