HELP turn Farnham orange once again by taking part in the Orange Mufti Day on Friday, January 22, in aid of Harry Barnley who suffers from a rare and life-limiting degenerative disease.

Harry from Weybourne School, was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy in June 2013 and will most likely be wheelchair-bound by his 10th birthday – but with the help of breakthrough drug Translarna, Harry and those alike could keep walking for longer.

However, Translarna is currently not available on the NHS and would set families back thousands of pounds.

Last year with the help of more than 11 schools and local businesses the mufti event raised a total of £2,604 – this year mother Sue Barnley wants it to be bigger and better. She said: “So far this year we have eight schools involved plus Farnham Leisure Centre.

“The charity Muscular Dystrophy UK is making more of this day nationally wanting 10,000 people involved, I think so far they have 8,500 signed up. We would love it if some businesses would sign up as well.”

It’s easy to take part just wear something orange for the day and pay a small donation to the Help4Harry campaign in return, whether this is £1 or £20, anything helps – for schools taking part it is a minimum of £1 per child.

So far, William Cobbett Primary School, Farnham Heath End School, Badshot Lea Infant School, Folly Hill Infant School, Potters Gate Primary School, St Marys Infant School, Elm Tree Pre School, Greenways Pre-School and Farnham Leisure Centre have signed up.

Help4Harry is a campaign set up by family members to raise awareness and funds for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. For more information about the campaign, to donate or to sign up, go to www.help4harry.co.uk.
