ST Andrew’s Parish Church in Farnham will welcome guest organist Gerald Marlow for its June organ recital tomorrow (Tuesday).
Gerald was born and brought up in Farnham and it was Thomas Stroud who first introduced him to the organ at St Peter’s Church, Wrecclesham.
Always referring to himself as an amateur musician, Gerald has been much in demand as an organist and choir master and was in that role at St Andrew’s during the 1980s.
His programme next Tuesday will start with Herbert Howells’ Saraband, Handle’s ’Where’re you walk’, pieces by Mathias, Rowley, Herbert Murrill’s Carillon along with other well known and less familiar works.
The monthly recitals are free, starting at 1.10pm and last around 45 minutes. Everyone is most welcome, light refreshments are available or you may prefer to take your own lunch.
There is a retiring collection to support forthcoming recitals.
