COST-cutting by the Conservative-controlled East Hampshire District Council has stirred up a storm at the party conference in Manchester.

The millions of pounds of taxpayers' money saved through shared service provision, were outlined by David Parkinson, chairman of East Hampshire Conservative Association, during a presentation hosted by the TaxPayers' Alliance.

His message was that other councils could follow the trail still being blazed by East Hampshire to share services and staff with neighbouring authorities to save money.
