RESIDENTS flocked to the Jubilee play area in Shepherds Way, Tilford, to enjoy the new and upbeat playground which was celebrated with a launch party by around 250 people.

The event was opened with a very large ribbon, some excited children and a countdown from 10.

The WI was busy selling cakes, The Barley Mow pub stopped visitors going thirsty, Mini Bean Coffee Co kept everyone warm with hot drinks and when the sun came out Tony Fresko had an orderly queue.

According to organisers, the event was “fantastic” and went well, despite the rain. In fact the rain really reinforced the crowds enthusiasm and they stayed on regardless – helping to raise nearly £100 on the day donated from the WI, Barley Mow, Tony fresco and nine bean coffee.

Comments flooded in online about the revamped playground including, “my kids are using the playground again having grown out of it a few years ago so all the additions are fantastic. Well done Debra Lee and all others who have helped”

With another adding, “I hope you’re having a well-deserved relax now. What a wonderful facility for the children and the community and a gift to future generations too. Love how you got people together to do this. The kids had a great time”.
