ARTWORK created by patients of Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care will go on display in an exhibition at The Maltings Cafe in Farnham this week.

From January 27 to February 8, 18 pieces of art and several items of pottery will be exhibited, all of which have been created by Phyllis Tuckwell patients and their carers at the charity’s Brush with Art group.

This group, which is held on a Monday afternoon, has been running for nine years and is very popular with the charity’s patients, who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer.

Art gives patients and their families a freedom to explore their creativity and express themselves. They can channel the feelings which their illness has brought about and voice them through their art, at the same time as focusing on something other than the illness itself.

Brush with Art is just one of the many groups which Phyllis Tuckwell offers through its Living Well services.

Sessions on offer include tai chi, guidance on coping with anxiety, help with getting a good night’s sleep, and a creative writing group which gives patients and carers another way of expressing themselves.

All of these sessions help patients to feel more in control of their illnesses and the changes they have brought to their lives.

All are welcome to visit the Maltings exhibition to see the range of artwork which Phyllis Tuckwell’s patients and carers have created. For more information on the care which Phyllis Tuckwell provides, visit www.pth.org.uk.
