PEOPLE are being asked to vote for their favourite new build or public building to crown the ‘People’s Choice’ winner at the Design Awards in March.

Sixteen developments in Waverley have been shortlisted for the coveted award, including a new build in Farnham, a new hospital building in Haslemere, an extension to the community centre in Godalming and a new school building in Farnham.

Voting is open to all by visiting waverley.gov.uk/designawards and completing the short online voting form.

The winner will be announced on March 14 at Farnham Memorial Hall.

Councillor Chris Storey, portfolio holder for policy and customer services, said: “We’d like to thank all those who took the time to make their nominations for this year’s Design Awards. We have some excellent buildings in Waverley that deserve recognition.

“We now need residents to go online and vote for their overall favourite. It should only take a few minutes and will ensure your choice is in the running for this prestigious award. ”

Voting opened this week and closes on February 15 at 5pm.

The awards were introduced in 1995 by Waverley Borough Council to encourage interest in the quality of the borough’s built and natural environment and to promote an awareness of the need for high-quality design. They are free to enter but developments must have been completed between April 1, 2015, and September 30, 2018.
