A DEVELOPER has appealed to the Secretary of State to overturn Waverley Borough Council’s refusal of planning permission for 140 new homes in Lower Weybourne Lane.

If allowed, Bewley Homes’ application on the last remaining green field between Badshot Lea and Weybourne opposite Farnham Sea Cadet’s headquarters TS Swiftsure will single-handedly increase the population of Badshot Lea by 25 per cent.

The plans were dismissed by Waverley’s joint planning committee last July after councillors ruled the development would irreparably harm the character of the area.

And more than 250 people objected to the application prior to the planning meeting, including the Badshot Lea Community Association (BLCA) and Farnham Town Council.

The BLCA has published its response to the appeal online at http://badshotleacommunity.co.uk . To view the plans in full visit www.waverley.gov.uk/planning and search for reference WA/2014/0391.
