PERMISSION has been granted for the development of 13 new homes at land north and south of Stockwood Way in Farnham, by Waverley Borough Council.

The application, which is a revision of a previous scheme allowed on appeal also for 13 dwellings, is located to the south east of the residential estate of Stockwood Way and Lea Court, and north of the playing fields at All Hallows School.

The currently wooded site measures 0.9 acres, and proposes the development of 13 new homes with associated accesses and landscaping. The houses will comprise five two-bed homes, five three-bed homes, one four-bed home and two five-bed homes.

Committee vice-chairman Carole Cockburn said: “I was on the committee that rejected this and I went on the appeal walkabout with the inspector.

“It was very clear that we had used reasons for refusal that he considered inappropriate, you could almost feel it as you were walking round with the inspector.

“There was never any problem with Parcel A at Stockwood Way, it was Parcel B that we objected to.

“This therefore is a site that the inspector said was perfectly acceptable, he turned down all of our reasons for objecting, every single one as far as I can remember.

The site was identified for housing within Waverley Borough Council’s emerging Local Plan’s Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) entry. To view the application in more detail, go to www.waverley.gov.uk/planning and search for WA/2016/1702.
