HYPED MARKETING in Farnham dropped off a bunch of Easter eggs and a few eager volunteers to help out with Hale Community Centre’s family Easter egg hunt.

During the Covid-19 pandemic, the centre started the community fridge and cupboard to help feed families and stop food waste – both from shops and people’s bins.

The community fridge and cupboard is open to anyone living locally.

Donations arrive from Tesco Express Hale, Lidl Farnham, Waitrose Farnham and Runfold Community Farm.

Surplus fresh produce is also added from the centre’s community garden, which is cared for by a group of volunteers.

Hyped Marketing’s involvement in this year’s Easter egg hunt comes as part of the company’s chosen charity initiative, where team members take it in turns to select a charity to support every month.

Lauren Smith, one of Hyped’s account directors, picked Hale Community Centre as April’s charity.

She said: “The centre is down the road from me.

“I love the community aspect, and the family activities the volunteers put on during lockdown – when many people felt isolated – were brilliant.

“I’m also hugely keen on reducing waste – so much food gets thrown out.

“The community cupboard is ace as it collects the excess food from around Farnham with a two-fold aim: to prevent food waste and help those in need.

“The Easter egg hunt was a fantastic day, and it was great to see all the kids so delighted with their eggs and hyped up on chocolate.

“Thanks to Sue and the team for having us.”

Sue Connolly, from Hale Community Centre, said: “We would like to thank Hyped Marketing for their kind donation and for taking the time to come down to the centre and volunteer.”

The community fridge and cupboard is available to everyone and is open from 1pm to 3pm on Mondays and from 11am to 12pm on Tuesdays and Fridays.
