AN undercover drugs ‘sting’ resulted in a 21-year-old-man from Guildford being sentenced to a year in prison for supplying cannabis in the Farnham area.
Jordan Hardy, 21, from Oakfields, appeared at Guildford Crown Court last Friday charged with three counts of supplying a Class B drug and one count of being concerned in making an offer to supply a Class B drug. He entered a guilty plea at the last minute.
Hardy was sentenced to one year in prison to run concurrently for all four counts, which will be suspended for two years. He must also carry out 100 hours of unpaid work within six months.
The court heard he was caught in an undercover police operation to detect suspected drug dealing in the area.
The first offence took place in December 2013, when Hardy was selling cannabis around the back of Farnham railway station and agreed to sell the officer £20 of cannabis.
A week later, another deal for £20 of the Class B drug was completed, and a few days later, the officer was sold a £10 bag of cannabis. The final count related to a police raid on January 30 in 2014, when a small quantity of cannabis was discovered in two bedrooms together with evidence of dealing.
In his defence, Hardy said he was not responsible for the original purchase of the drugs and his involvement was due to pressure and intimidation. He admitted he earned around £200 to £300 a week from drug dealing.
Sentencing, recorder Lawrence West, accepted Hardy was subjected to a degree of pressure. He also accepted his last-minute guilty plea. As a result, Hardy’s sentence was suspended for two years.
