MARK Webber was selected as the 2017 UK Independence Party prospective parliamentary candidate for the constituency of South West Surrey at a branch hustings held in Farnham late last month.

Mark, an IT consultant specialising in banking and financial markets technology with many years of experience in the City, was the party’s 2015 candidate for the seat, coming second with 5,643 votes.

Last year he was involved in campaigning across London and the South East for a leave vote in the EU referendum.

In a speech to party members Mr Webber noted that “last year the electorate voted to leave the European Union, not to remain half-in and half-out.

“Mr Hunt is a Remainer who used his position as Health Secretary to help spread David Cameron’s ‘Project Fear’. Hunt also called for a second referendum so that people could change their minds.

“But I am very optimistic about our future as a fully independent country, able once again to make our own laws for our own benefit.

“By leaving the single market we have a huge opportunity to slash red tape and to help British businesses to compete globally.

“A strong UKIP is needed to hold the government to account and to ensure that the decision of the people is carried out.”
