A power cut has affected homes and business in Farnham town centre on Wednesday morning – with the traffic lights at a key junction another casualty.

The outage was first reported at 9.22am, says Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN), meaning several businesses have been unable to open this morning.

SSEN estimates 317 customers have been affected, with the traffic lights and pedestrian crossing at the Royal Deer crossroads also rendered inoperable.

An engineer is currently on-site, as of just before 11am, with hopes power will be fully restored in the town centre by 12.30pm.

Power has already been restored for some customers in the town centre.

A SSEN spokesman said: "We're sorry for the loss of supply. We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed (GU9). Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can. If you need more information, please call us on 105 or send us a message on Facebook or Twitter (@ssencommunity) and quote reference 'MN9235')."
