FARNHAM Town Council has unanimously agreed to press ahead with making a petition available for the public to sign in opposition to proposals in the draft South East Plan to include Farnham within the Western Corridor Blackwater Valley Sub-Region. The idea for the petition arose at the annual town meeting, which passed a motion stating: "This town meeting rejects the concept of Farnham being included in the Western Corridor Blackwater Valley Sub Region. "It urges and requires the Regional Assembly to remove Farnham from the Western Corridor forthwith." In a statement this week, the town council said it recognises the serious concerns of many Farnham residents regarding the town's inclusion within the Western Corridor Blackwater Valley Sub Region. The council urged the people of the town to sign the public petition, which was made available, together with an explanatory text identifying key issues on the critical subject, at the town council office in South Street from Tuesday during normal office hours. The public has until Friday, May 13, to sign the document, before it is despatched to the South East England Regional Assembly.
