WEYFORD Junior School pupils have had a lesson on how important the newly-regenerated Hogmoor Inclosure is to the town’s environment and wildlife.

Representatives from the Whitehill and Bordon Regeneration Company and Hampshire Constabulary held an assembly, on June 22, for children at the Bordon school to educate them about the nature of the town’s Hogmoor Inclosure.

Company community development officer Naomi Metcalfe, police community support officer Wade Hicks and Wesley Bowen, from Archon Protection, told the pupils how the wildlife was being protected, what wildlife the Regeneration Company hoped to attract to the Inclosure, future plans for the area and the planting scheme.

A geography field trip to the Inclosure is planned for year-two pupils soon.

Support officer Hicks will also be organising a dog-walking group and a police surgery at the Inclosure.

Ms Metcalfe said: “It was an absolute pleasure to hold a special assembly at Weyford Junior School and teach the children about this wonderful nature right on their doorstep. The children were interested in the range of creatures at the site and they learnt a valuable lesson about why it is important to look after the wildlife.

“We would love to visit the school again and speak about other aspects of the regeneration at Whitehill and Bordon.”
