THIS year’s monthly charity quiz night season got under way at Alton House Hotel with a presentation of £456.37 to Cardiac Rehab, being the proceeds of last year’s Quiz run.
Hosted by Alton House manager Stojanka Jones and her colleagues, the quiz is open to teams of up to eight people who pay £10 per team to enjoy pitting their wits in six rounds of 10 questions posed by quiz master Bill Tigg, plus two picture rounds, to try to win a cash prize.
A servery dinner at £5 per head is available before the start of the quiz, which takes place on the last Wednesday of each month, starting at 7pm, and is open to all comers.
Mr Tigg said: “The quizzes were launched in April 2014 to offer people a fun evening out while at the same time raising funds for Cardiac Rehab.”
Stojanka Jones described it as “a great honour” for the Alton House Hotel to host the event, adding that she personally enjoys the quiz evenings, especially knowing that they are helping charity.
This is a landmark year for Cardiac Rehab as it’s 40 years since Dr Hugh Bethell started the Rehab programme, and the charity is aiming to raise a significant £200,000 to mark the occasion.
