A SPECIAL remembrance event held by Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Care on Saturday, March 24 saw around 100 people gather together to remember their loved ones, at Memory Meadow in Guildford’s Stoke Park.

Memory Meadow is a special area in Stoke Park which is dedicated to loved ones who are no longer with us, and its colourful mix of beautiful flowers blooms every spring.

Farnham-based charity Phyllis Tuckwell cares for patients and families who are living with an advanced or terminal illness, such as cancer, and holds a special remembrance event at Memory Meadow every year.

Anyone who wishes to attend is invited to join them as they remember loved ones who have died but who are never forgotten, and celebrate their lives.

Those at the event listened to inspiring readings and joined in with uplifting songs. Afterwards, they were able to spend some time walking around Memory Meadow, thinking about their loved ones and reflecting on their memories.

Everyone who attended was also given a Book of Remembrance, which contained dedications made by attendees in memory of their loved ones and which was a very special memento to keep.

Memory Meadow is situated at the Nightingale Road entrance to Stoke Park and is open all year round to anyone wishing to spend some quiet time remembering their loved one.

Phyllis Tuckwell has also created an online Memory Meadow at

memorymeadow.pth.org.uk, where anyone who wishes to can dedicate a flower or butterfly to their loved one and make a donation in their memory.

Every day Phyllis Tuckwell supports more than 250 patients, relatives and carers - in their own homes, in the community, at the hospice in Farnham and at the Beacon Centre in Guildford.

* A charity football match will take place in aid of Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice and a Bridges estate agents employee battling cancer at Aldershot Town FC on Friday, April 27.

A team made up of the Aldershot Town sponsors, led by Tony Raffermati of Bridges estate agents, will take on an Aldershot Legends team led by the Shots’ highest ever goal scorer, Mark Butler, at 7pm.

Entry is free, but donations can be made with proceeds being split equally between Phyllis Tuckwell and Bridges’ client manager Simon Pearson, who was struck with leukaemia in 2016.
