FRUSTRATED residents have spoken out after their tyres were left “destroyed” by Farnham’s “bomb-damaged” roads.

Brian Davis was visiting family in Wrecclesham on December 21, when he travelled into Farnham with his wife who was driving.

The couple were leaving the Coxbridge roundabout on the A325 West Street – when they spotted two potholes.

Speaking to the Herald, Brian said: “We saw the pothole but there was a car coming down the opposite route, so my wife could not swerve out of the way.

“She hit the brakes and slowed down, but it was so deep it just blew the tyre instantly.”

The couple then waited at the Bourne Manor Care Home before being picked up by an AA driver – who said they were the fourth people he had come to collect from that area that day.

Brian reported the issue to Surrey County Council, later receiving an email saying the pothole was deemed to not be a “priority”.

He said the roads in his home county of Gloucester were significantly better compared to the “bomb-damaged roads in and around Farnham”.

Also speaking to the Herald, Jake Styles spoke of how his wheel was “completely destroyed” after hitting a pothole in Churt Road on December 12.

He reported it to the council’s emergency line as he feared it could cause a “fatal head-on collision”.

He submitted a claim to the council along with photos of the damage on December 17 – but was yet to receive a response.
