THE residents of Orchard House paid their own special tribute to Harry and Megan when they held a ‘Post Royal Marriage Party’ which they celebrated with sparkling wine and a special cake baked by Debbie Barney.

There were flags and decorations all around the inside of the building which had been paid for by Radian Housing Association and the residence provided the food and drink.

Guest of honour was deputy mayor Alan Chick, who before proposing a toast to the royal couple said how pleased he was to have been invited to such a happy occasion. He also cut the cake which was served with Prosecco.

As a reminder of the happy couple there was a life-size cardboard replica of Harry and Megan.

Chairman of the Residents Association Roger Tibble said: “We had about 40 guests and I was pleased to see some of the residents who don’t always come to our coffee mornings and social events. It was a very happy occasion.”
