CHURCHILL Retirement Living which owns Hawthorn Lodge in Farnham, is calling on people to nominate their local hero for a prestigious award at their annual Churchill Awards.

The awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of those aged over 65 in society and the special Local Hero Award recognises a member of the public who has made a particular contribution to their community.

Spencer McCarthy, chairman and group managing director for Churchill Retirement Living said: “The Churchill Awards recognise everything the over 65s contribute to our society. This group of people play a significant part in our local communities and the Local Hero Award is about recognising the difference they make.

“Last year, due to the incredible entries, there were three winners of the award, Lyn Williams, Keith Pellett, and Raymond Brown for their charity and community work and we hope to find similarly wonderful people this year.

“This year’s awards look set to be bigger and better than ever, and we look forward to receiving many nominations for the particularly special Local Hero category.”
