CASTLE Street and The Borough will close to traffic from 5am to 8.30pm on Sunday to make way for Farnham’s “biggest ever” Christmas market.
Around 200 stalls will line the town centre from 10am to 4pm for the bumper event, which has grown in recent years to become one of the largest Christmas markets in the South East.
Road closures will be in place for much of Sunday - in The Borough between the Downing Street and South Street junctions, and in Castle Street between Park Row and The Borough.
Shoppers will find gifts galore, Christmas decorations and food and drink treats at this year’s market.
Father Christmas will be in his grotto ready to meet excited children and the nativity scene will be recreated, featuring live animals which children can meet. Live performances from local choirs and bands will also add to the festive spirit.
A free shuttle-bus service will run on the hour and half-hour from the Hale Institute, calling at Tesco Express Upper Hale and Farnham Park.
A further service will run on the hour and half-hour from Weydon School where visitors can park in the school’s car park. The bus will stop at the railway station and the bus stop at The Chantrys/West Street Cemetery.
Both services start at 9.30am and run throughout the duration of the market - the last bus leaving at 4.30pm.
Residents of Castle Street have been asked to park their cars elsewhere on Saturday evening to allow the event to run smoothly.
People displaying Zone A parking permits will be allowed to park in the Upper Hart car park free of charge from 5pm on Friday to 8am on Monday.
