THIS year’s Music in the Meadow, a season of free live shows in Farnham’s Gostrey Meadow, has entertained music fans and families alike.
Around 600 people each week have enjoyed live performances on Sunday afternoons throughout the summer, with the curtain coming down last weekend.
The programme featured music ranging from jazz to 1960s pop classics, contemporary pop hits, alternative rock and soul.
And each Sunday, a different charity hosted the charity tea tent, selling cakes and refreshments.
Jill Hargreaves, Farnham Town Council’s lead member for tourism and events, said: “It has been marvellous to see so many residents enjoying the music while they picnic in Gostrey Meadow and make the most of the excellent charity tea tent.
“Local estate agent Savills has once again generously sponsored Music in the Meadow. We simply could not put it on without Savills’ sponsorship. I’d also like to thank Waterfords, Tony Fresco and Kidd Rapinet Solicitors who have supported individual concerts.”
This summer, Late to the Party performed classic rock tracks, mature six-piece band the Brass Monkeys performed rock and soul covers, and the Vic Cracknell Party Band left an audience of around 700 people wanting more as the crowd joined in for the Van Morrison classic Brown Eyed Girl.
Plans for next year’s Music in the Meadow are already under way. Bands interested in performing can e-mail Helena Jarman at [email protected].
