CHALLENGERS play scheme for disabled children in Farnham has been boosted with a £600 donation by the Rotary Club of Hart.

The funds will support Challengers’ range of exciting and engaging activities for youngsters aged from four to 12 years old.

These include messy art, drumming workshops and sports days as well as facilities including a state-of-the-art sensory room and a large outdoor play structure to encourage children to have fun, try new things and make friends.

Rhiannon Hopkin, community fundraising officer, said: “We are all about the play at Challengers and with the support of the Hart Rotary Club we have been able to run some incredible activities for children in Farnham, from making paper plate fish to having a sensory petting zoo visit our Farnham playcentre.

“We are so thankful to the Rotary Club of Hart for helping us provide engaging and exciting activities for local disabled children to challenge their impairments.”

The president of the Rotary Club of Hart, Steve Watling, visited the Farnham Playcentre and added: “We were very impressed to see the range of activities available for the children who attend the play scheme, the enjoyment of the children secure within that environment and the enthusiasm and support of the play workers who look after their every needs.

“Until recently, we had been unaware of Challengers and the amazing work that they do to provide this valuable service. We are delighted to become a partner to such a worthwhile and necessary scheme.”
