ROWLEDGE running group Mums on the Run descended on Frensham Ponds on Sunday to raise money for Sport Relief.

More than 70 runners associated with the group took part in either a one, three or six-mile running race as part of the Waverley Sport Relief Mile.

Mums on the Run started less than a year ago when two mums Caroline Eaton and Sasha Cowley wanted to find a way to connect running mums in the area.

The group also focuses on encouraging new runners to take up the sport in a fun, supportive and sociable way.

Over the last 12 months Mums on the Run has grown to include 30 members and has raised nearly £5,000 for charity.

Sunday’s event proved a very successful day out for the team. As well as fundraising for a worthy cause, two of the three events were won by Mums on the Run team members.

Cathryn Morse won the six mile race while nine-year-old Thomas Le Marchant was first over the line in the three-mile run.
