MEDSTEAD mum Sally Powell created another glamorous night out for 156 guests at Alton’s Maltings Centre to raise a whopping £11,256.98 for charity Dreams Come True.
It was the third Hopes and Dreams Ball she had organised through her company, Brightbox Ventures, and it was a resounding success with guests enjoying a three-course meal and musical entertainment by the Singing Waiters and The Soultanas, before dancing until midnight to sounds played by DJ Francis.
According to Sally, the auction on September 23 raised £4,500, and she has expressed her thanks to all those who supported the event in any way.
Sally said: “I really enjoy fundraising, and it’s overwhelming how generous everyone has been. I’ve had a lot of help.
“I’d like to thank everyone involved, especially Kelly and Darren Searle and Dawn and Piers Collins, for their hard work in helping me create another successful event to help make dreams come true for seriously ill children.”
Based in Liphook, Dreams Come True is a national children’s charity whose mission is to provide memorable experiences for children with serious and life-limiting conditions.
Over the last 29 years the charity and its supporters have brought happiness and joy to more than 5,000 children as well as their families and carers.
Sally, 39, said her husband Andrew, 47, the chief executive of The Training Room in Poole, Dorset, made contact with Dreams Come True when seeking a charity to support after his eyes were opened to people’s suffering during his time on active service in the Army.
As the parents of two healthy children, the couple decided they would like to help less fortunate youngsters and pledged to raise £50,000 for Dreams Come True.
And, with biannual balls and several smaller tribute nights under their belts, they have almost hit their ambitious target.
Further fundraising events are planned at the Maltings Centre next year.
