FARNHAM’s Sam Manz battled scorching hot temperatures to complete the Virgin Sport Westminster British 10K for Farnham ASSIST in July.

More than 12,000 runners descended on the capital for the 18th instalment of the race, taking in London’s most iconic landmarks from Big Ben to Trafalgar Square, on the same day as both the Wimbledon men’s final and the World Cup final.

This year’s event celebrated movement and music, transforming the streets of Westminster into a British street party – with Union Jacks, live bands and DJs at every kilometre.

Sam finished the run in just over an hour, and has raised £156.10 for Farnham ASSIST, a Christian charity supporting many of Farnham’s more isolated older residents.

“Thank you Sam for supporting Farnham ASSIST,” said Susie Blackwood, from the charity.

She continued: “Contact Farnham ASSIST on 01252 717710 if you would like to know more about the charity that supports the over 60s living on their own. Our aim is to help combat loneliness and isolation.”
