A WOMAN has received a parking fine addressed to her late husband on the day of his funeral, following a dispute with parking company Dudrich Holdings.

As reported in last week’s Herald, recently-bereaved wife Christine Choularton made an appeal to Dudrich Holdings to ensure her late husband Roy’s Motability car would not be ticketed, as it was due to be collected next week.

She had asked the company for a ‘grace period’ while they awaited the collection – but was shocked when the firm asked for proof of her husband’s death, as well as correspondence with Motability and the car’s logbook for proof of ownership.

And this week, Mrs Choularton confirmed the car had been issued with a penalty notice – receiving a letter on Thursday, August 13, the day of Roy’s funeral.

Her daughter Lisa also received a penalty notice, which they believe had been issued the morning Lisa picked up her mother to organise flowers for the funeral.

Speaking to the Herald, Mrs Choularton said: “They know all the details about the car, so my daughter said they should remove the parking fine.

“They are going around the roads in the morning, looking for anyone they can catch out.”

A number of residents confirmed on social media pages they had also received parking fines from London Parking Solutions – working on behalf of Dudrich Holdings.

It comes after a public meeting chaired by Surrey county councillor Stephen Spence garnered the support of more than 30 families on the estate – with hopes to launch an action group with neighbouring communities.

South West Surrey MP Jeremy Hunt had previously tried to contact the parking firm, urging them to rethink the charging of spaces.

He said: “Despite now writing and chasing Dudrich Holdings, asking them to reconsider their move to introduce parking charges, I have had only an acknowledgement to one email stating they would write again when it had been considered.

“I do hope the company do the right thing and change their approach as soon as possible – I will keep chasing.”

? The Herald requested a comment from Dudrich Holdings, but the firm had not replied as the paper went to press.
