A FARNHAM pensioner fleeced out of £200,000 over 56 years by callous con artists, including phoney clairvoyants, has been dubbed a national hero for speaking out to help others. Sylvia Kneller's story was told in The Herald in January, after the 76-year-old, helped by Surrey Trading Standards, beat her addiction to sending off money in reply to letters promising her good health, bogus prizes or foreign lottery wins. Admitting she had been "a soft touch", the retired cook and cleaner said she wanted to warn others. The cautionary tale made the front page of national media.
