A SUNNY Saturday attracted a large crowd for the traditional Witley fair, which dates back 500 years.
Village organisations came together to ensure it was a big success and manned a wide range of stalls, games and entertainment.
They included the Scouts, local schools, the cricket club, Fosters Club, The Chichester Hall, Witley Social Club and All Saints' Church .
Highlights of the event were traditional children's races, a dog show and dance and karate demonstrations.
The beer, curry and burger tents were also well-supported.
The fair concluded with a dramatic "grand illusion" when Tim Burgess, the head teacher from the Chandler Junior School, was sawn in half – but fortunately was miraculously made whole again.
As well as raising much-needed funds for organisations in the village, the fair will also fund a donation to the Witley Surgery's charity "Country Mice". The organising commitee thanked everyone who helped to make this year's event such a success.
