RECEPTION class children at Headley's Holme Primary School dressed up as their favourite superheroes on Wednesday.
But it wasn't just the pupils who came to save the day as reception teacher Elizabeth Strain transformed into Betty Blender - a hero with a supernatural ability to use words.
Betty's trusty sidekick Maths Mitchell, who by day is a teaching assistant called Amanda Mitchell, was on hand to spread numbers and mathematical knowledge throughout the school.
From Superman to Spiderman, everyone donned their own colourful costume.
"They had a lot of fun," said school finance officer Wendy Carter.
"There was every hero and some I'd never heard of!"
