CROWDS lined the streets to cheer on Team Rickshaw as they travelled through Farnham last Sunday.

The team cycled 52.3 miles from Lingfield to Hook on day three of their challenge, which kicked off on November 9 in Calais.

Team Rickshaw made their way through Badshot Lea and Weybourne Road, before cycling up the hill in Upper Hale Road and finally arriving in Hook at around 7.30pm.

One of those cheering them on was Carolyn Wickham who can be seen photographed below holding a sign that reads: “Matt Baker, £10 for a selfie?!”

Carolyn and her daughter Jemima managed to get the selfie, after which Carolyn said they had a “wonderful time” waiting for the One Show’s Rickshaw Challenge and were “fortunate enough to meet Matt Baker himself”.

“We rather like Matt Baker! He’s so lovely and friendly and had time for everyone despite looking shattered,” Carolyn added.

Also cheering the team on was Janet Maines and her husband Victor Duckett, both of whom are former Waverley and Farnham mayors. The pair were ringing bells when Team Rickshaw passed them, but when Hale traffic lights turned red they managed to talk to two of the young riders.

Janet and Victor asked whether they were with the Rickshaw Challenge, to which “the two lads inside leant forward and smiling widely said ‘we are two of the riders’”, the couple explained. “Victor shook hands with them and congratulated them and we could tell them that they were lucky they were not riding the next stretch as it was up the hill of Upper Hale Road!”

Matt Baker said: “It was amazing cycling through Farnham on Sunday. Myself and Team Rickshaw would like to extend a huge thanks to the people of Farnham for coming out and cheering us on. It really does make all the difference and spurs us on to keep pedalling!”
