SURREY Police received a report of suspicious activity last Thursday (March 17) in Sandy Hill, Farnham.

The caller said a man had been seen behaving suspiciously in the area at around 5.30pm. The man is described as Asian, in his 20s, around 5ft 5 tall, slim, with long black hair tied up in a bun, and wearing a black tracksuit. The caller said the man had been seen taking photos near children on his mobile phone.

The Sandy Hill resident approached the police after her son told her that he had see a man acting suspiciously. “My son, aged 11, was just outside by the front door kicking a football around as he waited for his friend to pick him up for football training like he normally does.

“An Asian man, with long black hair tied up in a bun, in his words, approached him and said ‘hello’ and started taking photographs.

“When he left to go to football he saw the same man taking photographs of other children. He didn’t tell me any of this until he got back home.

“I am 5ft 9 and my son is 4ft 11, and he said the man was shorter than me but taller than him. I am a mother of five and I worry about it enough, for my son to say something to me, means a lot. He’s got his head screwed on and he is very vigilant. It is a scary world we live in.”

Officers are still trying to determine whether any offences have been committed. They are carrying out targeted patrols in the area and are urging anyone who believes they have witnessed any suspicious activity to report it straightaway.
