AN evening of song at Churcher’s College Junior School saw more than 85 performers show their talents, demonstrating the enthusiasm and support that singing enjoys at the school.

Children representing all year groups provided a well-balanced programme stretching from gospel spirituals to English folk songs.

Churcher’s Ukulele Group kick-started the evening with a mash-up of songs performed over a classic four-chord sequence. The group gave a great performance considering that it was only founded at the beginning of the year.  Solos, duets and trios were then delivered with confidence.

The evening finished with the debut performance of The Big Sing, anensemble, supported by Kayleigh Pendry, is a new addition to the school’s music department, catering for nearly 90 pupils wanting to sing in a group. The evening was organised by Head of Music Hamish Newport who thanked singing teacher Victoria Larley for her hard work in preparing pupils and accompanying them in their performances.
