A 16-year-old boy remains in a coma after suffering head injuries in an attack by several men in Farnham on Saturday evening. The boy had left a restaurant in The Borough with a group of friends when they were assaulted by three men, one of whom was in a wheelchair. Immediately after the attack, the attackers ran off, discarding the wheelchair. The boy was initially taken to the Royal Surrey County Hospital at Guildford, and then transferred to St George's Hospital, Tooting. Following arrest, a 21-year-old man appeared at Guildford Magistrates Court on Wednesday charged with the assault. Danny-Lee Parratt of Farnham was charged with three offences of grievious bodily harm with intent, actual bodily harm and affray. Following the incident, in which two of the boy's friends were also assaulted but not seriously injured, police arrested three men. Two were released, with the subsequent arrest of two further men on Tuesday. Waverley Borough Inspector Graham Weaver said: "This type of incident is extremely rare in Farnham, which makes it all the more appalling. "Police officers on foot patrol are a feature of Farnham town centre every evening at the weekend, and as a result we were able to make an arrest within minutes of the incident on Saturday night. Farnham town centre is monitored by CCTV which together with dedicated footpatrols make it a safe place to visit." Surrey Police are appealing for witnesses who were in the town centre at the time of the attack to come forward.
