TENSIONS rose in Crondall over Easter as it was discovered that a piece of scrub land on the outskirts of the village looks set to become a gypsy encampment.

Over the Easter break, while council offices were closed, local residents saw workmen and earth-moving equipment on a one-acre site within yards of the village at the junction with the A287 and Crondall Road.
