POLICE have appealed for witnesses after a local woman was subjected to a terrifying kidnap attempt last Saturday.
The woman, who comes from Milford, was uninjured but shaken by the frightening ordeal when a man tried to grab her and drag her into his car at Oxted Green at 9-50 pm.
She managed to fight free by kicking the man in the leg before he drove off towards the A283, Petworth Road.
A man in a black Nissan Sunny had approached the 25-year-old woman. He got out of his car and asked her repeatedly to go for a drink with him in Guildford, before grabbing her hand and attempting to drag her into the car.
The man is described as white, aged 25-30 years, 5ft 5 ins to 5 ft 6 ins tall, of a stocky build, with untidy shoulder-length, black hair, and a chubby face with dimples.
He was wearing a black, long-sleeved top and blue jeans and spoke with an eastern European accent. The registration number of his car was K397 RLC.
Detective Constable Richard Pegden, who is leading the investigation, said: "This was potentially a very serious incident but luckily on this occasion, the victim was able to break free.
"Fortunately incidents like these are extremely rare in Milford, but we are appealing for anyone with any information about what happened, to come forward straight away."
