THE Holybourne Theatre Company has at last received the go-ahead for the conversion and extension of Alton's former United Reform Church to provide a 153-seat theatre.

It was a red letter day for the amateur players as members of East Hampshire District Council's north planning sub-committee finally agreed to the revised plan for an auditorium, stage and changing rooms. It also includes an upper foyer which will provide a meeting room and bar area, and a lightweight, transparent glazed entrance foyer.

A full version of this story will be found in the Alton Herald of June 23, 2000.
