FOLLOWING the resignation of Ferris Cowper from his Headley division seat on Hampshire County Council, voters will head to the polls this week to decide who will replace him.

Mr Cowper announced last month that he would be standing down from his role representing Grayshott, Liphook and Headley at the county council, to focus on his “time-consuming work” as leader of East Hampshire District Council as well as “steering” the regeneration of Whitehill and Bordon.

The candidates on Thursday, May 5, are Peter Baillie (UKIP), Trevor Maroney (Liberal Democrat) and Floss Mitchell (Conservative).

People will also go to the polls to vote for Hampshire’s police and crime commissioner on Thursday. The candidates are Richard Adair (Lib Dem), Simon Hayes (Ind), Don Jerrard (Ind), Michael Lane (Con), Robin Price (Lab), Roy Swales (UKIP), and Steve Watts (zero-tolerance-policing ex police chief).
