POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a man assaulted three women in South Street on Sunday. The three women and a man had left The Hog's Head public house just before 1 am and were walking across the Sainsbury's car park when they spotted a man shaking a woman, who appeared to be upset. The group asked the man to calm down, at which point he turned on one of the women and pushed her over, causing her to hit her head. He also assaulted the two other women in the group, causing minor injuries. He ran off after being informed an ambulance had been called. The woman who was being shaken by the man went to the aid of the woman on the ground and identified the suspect as "Sam Jones". He is described as white, mid 20s, 6ft tall, and was dressed in a black jacket and jeans and wearing a "glow stick" around his neck. Police would like to talk to anyone who was with this man in the Sainsbury's car park or South Street area and in particular, the woman who was with him when the group approached."
