THE Tilbourne Players are set to provide theatre lovers with a treat, as director David Brace returns following his triumph last year with Steel Magnolias.

David who is Welsh has chosen a play set in rural Wales, this being The Corn is Green by Emlyn Williams, the time is the 1890s and the characters diverse and fascinating.

Supported by a strong cast, the play centres on Miss Moffat, a middle- aged woman determined to bring education to the miners and she plans to set up a school.

Marion Homer plays this part with Jane Quicke as her second in command, Bernard Whelan plays the part of the squire opposed to the school and Chris Deacon, the resourceful Mr Jones.

Two new actors join the team, Tom Burbidge to play Morgan Evans, Miss Moffat’s star pupil, and Eliza Craig to play the cockney daughter of Miss Moffat’s housekeeper.

The performance dates are November 17, 18 and 19, from 8pm at the Tilford Institute. There will also be a matinee performance on Saturday, November 19, from 2pm. Tickets can be purchased online at www.tilbourneplayers.org.uk, or by telephone on 01252 724344.
