“WHEN does the party start?” was the cry of Long Sutton pupils during their 2016 nativity.

Their modern twist on the traditional story entitled, ‘It’s a Party’, saw all the traditional characters of Mary and Joseph, the three kings with gifts to boot, shepherds and angels make an appearance throughout, but the birth of baby Jesus is celebrated with a party.

Featuring children from years R, 1 and 2, the Hook School put on a superb dress rehearsal for friends of the school on Monday, December 5, accompanied by mince pies and tea, ahead of the main performances on Tuesday and Wednesday.

With Mary and Joseph played by two year R children, the nativity carried the line of “when is the party starting” in anticipation of the birth of the Son of God.

Put together by teachers Tess Chevallier and Claire France, the nativity celebrated the birth with a joyous celebratory party, a somewhat livelier affair than that of over 2,000 years ago.

The crowning moment of the Long Sutton nativity came at the close of the production when all the children involved sung ‘It’s a Party’ to round off proceedings.

With tremendous feedback from guests, pupils and teachers the Hook school had a nativity party to remember.
