HOLLYWOOD A-lister Tom Cruise is rumoured to have visited Waverley Abbey last week for the filming of new blockbuster The Mummy.

The action movie, which also stars Russell Crowe who previously filmed Ridley Scott’s Gladiator and Robin Hood in nearby Bourne Woods, is a remake of the 1999 film starring Brendan Fraser and reportedly spent three days filming at the English Heritage-managed abbey near Farnham.

Cruise’s presence on the set was reportedly confirmed by security guards at Waverley Abbey, having also been seen filming at Shere just east of Guildford in recent weeks.
