THE transformation of Whitehill and Bordon over the next 20 years can be categorised into five key areas.

The first is the soon-to-be-renamed Main Site of development, for which 2,400 homes, a new town centre, shops, two schools, a care home, medical centre and leisure facilities are planned.

Secondly, in the north of the town, Louisburg Barracks will be the site of 500 homes, a construction-skills training centre and a business-and-enterprise centre.

Thirdly, east of the A325 Camp Road, Quebec Park will see 100 homes built with a business and community hub and cafe.

The new three-mile relief road, which will slice from north to south, between the Prince Philips Barracks and Technical Training Area development site (new town centre and homes) and the Hogmoor Inclosure greenspace, is the fourth key element.

And the fifth category concerns the two large greenspaces allocated for recreational use, with both the Hogmoor Inclosure (in the Main Site) and Bordon Inclosure (next to Quebec Park) approved as Suitable Alternative Natural Green-spaces.

A further 350 or so homes are expected to be built elsewhere in the town, bringing to 3,350 the total number of new homes planned by 2035.
