Wrecclesham railway bridge is to receive a makeover starting this weekend in an effort to make the structure easier to spot for over-height HGVs.

Engineering solutions such as digging the A325 lower below the bridge or a ‘perpendicular bash beam’ have been ruled out by county council officers as too costly.

But Network Rail will arrive on site this Saturday to clean the bridge and repaint it with bright yellow chevrons.

Two-way traffic lights will be in place under the bridge from 00:01 Saturday morning until 6am Monday.

But should any structural issues be identified, Network Rail has permission to extend the works until September 2.
