BLUEBIRD Care, which works in and around Farnham, has been formally designated as a ‘Carer Friendly’ organisation and is offering free training for local unpaid carers during national Carers Week (June 6 to 12).

The organisation which provides care for people in their own homes is running three courses from June 6 to 9 on Moving and Handling – protecting your back, First Aid Awareness and Dementia Care, to local people who provide unpaid care to their family or friends.

Bluebird Care director Brian Colvin said: “There are 6.5 million adult carers in the UK, with 2.1 million becoming carers each year. We would like to help in our local area by providing training to support our local unpaid carers because they make an enormous contribution.

“As a provider of care to people in their own homes, we train our own professional carers to recognised high standards and during Carers Week we would like to extend our training to others.”

Courses will be held at Bluebird Care’s offices in Old Woking – call 01483 761000 for more informations or to book a place on a course.
