A LENGTHY battle has failed to save the popular transport cafe at the Devil's Punchbowl in Hindhead. It will be closed at the end of January and turned into a National Trust tearoom.
Peter Koritsas, who has run the Hillcrest Cafe for seven and a half years, has been given until January 31, 2000, to move out of the cafe following a two-and-a-half hour hearing at Guildford County Court on Monday.
The National Trust is expected to begin work on transforming the cafe early next year.
