Councillors would like a hospitality firm to take a chip off the block as they’re not keen on a hotel scheme for a gateway site in Farnham.
Whitbread wants to expand its Premier Inn at Bourne Mill Business Park by replacing the former Beefeater with a three-storey block containing 74 rooms.
But although the firm says the scheme “incorporates elements” from its surroundings, Farnham Town Council has objected as their planning committee isn’t keen on the “look and industrial design” of the block.
“It’s not in-keeping with the area, especially in regards to the grade II listed Bourne Mill,” said Cllr Andrew Laughton at Thursday’s full FTC meeting.
“We felt we don’t have an issue what they’re doing, but it’s just it didn’t look great.”
