HEADLEY Twinning Association is inviting people to “enjoy an afternoon with a difference” when it hosts a 1940s tea dance at Headley Village Hall this month.

The dance will be held on Saturday, October 21, from 2pm-5pm.

Apart from the music, there will be a 1940s theme and traditional afternoon tea.

Chairman Clive Harrod said: “It’s a new venture for us but we are really pleased to welcome top vocalist Amy Baker to Headley. Along with her vintage looks and soothing jazz vocals, she will sing some swing and jive.

“Amy has performed at some top venues, at home and abroad, including Ronnie Scott’s, so it’s great to see her at Headley.”

Tickets, priced £10 per person, are available from Liz Robinson on 01420 475634.

“Events like this are important for us as we prepare to celebrate our 30th anniversary with Corne, a small provincial town near Angers on the Western Loire (in France),” said Mr Harrod.

“Next year will be our turn to host and we would love new families from Headley and the surrounding area to help with the hosting,” he added.

“It is truly a warm, fun and unique experience,” he added.

“We look forward to a wonderful weekend.”

Speaking French is useful but not essential as there is plenty of support.
