The RSPCA is investigating after a teenage boy was seen dragging a goose from a pond and kicking him in the head, leaving him with a wound.

The animal welfare charity was called after a member of the public witnessed the incident at the pond opposite the village green in Wood Street Village, Guildford, at around 2.30pm on January22.

Four white males aged around 15 were seen around the pond – two wearing khaki jackets with fur lined hoods, one wearing a grey jacket and one wearing a black jacket.

One of the teens was seen pulling the goose from the pond by his head, before kicking him in the side of the head. They ran off up Pound Lane opposite the pond.

The goose was bleeding from a wound and struggling to stand. The goose and his mate haven’t been seen in the area since. The witness called Surrey Police and the RSPCA to investigate the incident.

RSPCA Inspector Louis Horton is investigating. He said: “This was a very distressing incident for the person who called us to witness. We’d like to trace the four individuals responsible.

“If anyone has any information that can help our investigation, please call the RSPCA inspectorate line on 0300 123 8018 quoting incident 01212650.”

This year the RSPCA celebrates its 200th birthday. To mark this special anniversary the animal welfare charity wants to inspire one million people to join their movement to improve animals' lives.
